QFX to PDF Converter

QFX files are machine-readable data files designed for importing transactions into Quicken. They contain SGML markup with encoded dates, signed amounts, and nested tags that are impossible for non-technical users to read. The page header includes the account information extracted from the QFX file: the financial institution name (from the FI ORG tag), the account identifier (from ACCTID), and the statement date range (from DTSTART and DTEND in the BANKTRANLIST block).

The transaction table occupies the main body of each page. Five columns span the page width: Date shows the transaction date converted from YYYYMMDD to a human-readable format. Description displays the NAME and MEMO fields from each QFX transaction. Debit shows withdrawal amounts (negative TRNAMT values displayed as positive numbers). Credit shows deposit amounts (positive TRNAMT values). Balance shows the running balance computed from the opening balance and subsequent transactions.

Each page holds up to 25 transaction rows with alternating row shading for readability. Page numbers appear at the bottom right corner. When the statement spans multiple pages, pagination is automatic with consistent headers on every page.

The result is a clean, professional document suitable for printing on standard letter or A4 paper, emailing as an attachment, or filing in a digital document management system.

Step 1: Locate your QFX file. It may be in your downloads folder from a recent bank download, or you may have archived QFX files from previous Quicken sessions. The file has a .qfx extension.
